Nisarg Srishti Welfare Foundation (NSWF), a leading NGO dedicated to environmental conservation and noise pollution awareness, has announced a major national initiative to measure noise levels (in decibels) across all states in India. This large-scale project aims to create India’s first unified database on noise pollution through scientific and systematic monitoring.
This initiative marks a significant step toward building a quieter, healthier nation and supporting the vision of a Noise-Free Bharat.
About the Initiative
Under this mega noise mapping project, NSWF will conduct:
State-wise dB level assessments in public places, schools, hospitals, traffic zones, and residential areas.
Advanced sound-level monitoring using calibrated devices handled by trained teams.
Creation of a National Noise Pollution Index 2025, which will highlight state rankings and critical noise hotspots.
Awareness and behavioural change campaigns based on collected data.
Why This Matters
Noise pollution is an often ignored but rapidly rising health hazard in India. Excessive noise contributes to stress, anxiety, disturbed sleep, hypertension, and reduced productivity. This national noise mapping project aims to:
